Cambridge University Term Start Dates and Program Durations

University of Cambridge Foundation Programs

University of Cambridge Foundation Year is a free, full-time preparatory program for students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The program takes place on the Cambridge campus and offers scholarship opportunities. The aim is to support participants in adapting to Cambridge's high academic standards and transitioning to undergraduate programs.

The program, which focuses particularly on the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, equips students with fundamental skills such as critical thinking, research and academic writing. Those who successfully complete the program are directly accepted into undergraduate programs at Cambridge University. This program aims to increase equal opportunities in education and promote social justice.

University of Cambridge Undergraduate Programs

University of Cambridge undergraduate programs consist of three terms per year: Michaelmas (October-December), Lent (January-March), and Easter (April-June). The academic year begins on October 1st and ends on September 30th. Programs generally last 3 years, although some courses may take 4-5 years. 

University of Cambridge Master's Programs

Program duration typically ranges from 9 months to 1 academic year and is completed within a single academic year. Master's programs usually begin in October.

University of Cambridge Pre-Sessional English Courses

The University of Cambridge offers a five-week intensive Pre-Sessional course to prepare international postgraduate students for academic study. This course focuses not only on language training but also on academic skills such as writing, note-taking, seminar participation, and presentations. It includes 40 hours of full-time instruction per week, with lectures, one-on-one support, and independent study hours.

The course may be a prerequisite for entry for students with language requirements, but it does not replace an English proficiency test. Social activities and accommodation at Peterhouse College are also offered during the course. Pre-sessional courses typically begin in August and prepare students for postgraduate programs starting in October.

Cambridge University Student Visa

To study in the United Kingdom, you need to apply for a Student Visa. EDUKAS is here to support you throughout the entire application process.

CAS Letter

Universities send acceptance letters called CAS (Course of Availability) to students for use in the visa application process. You can request your CAS letter from the school through your EDUKAS consultant.

Bank account statement

The school and accommodation fees must be deposited in your current account or your sponsor's current account at your bank for 28 consecutive days prior to your visa interview appointment. (Accommodation costs in London are £12,006, and outside London £9,207, as determined by the visa department.) You can find out the exact amount from your consultant when it's time for the visa process.

Passport

You will need a passport that is valid for at least 6 months.

Identity register copy

If your mother or father will be financially sponsoring you for your education, you can easily obtain a certified copy of your birth certificate through the e-government system to prove their relationship.

Diploma & Transcript

The most up-to-date versions of these documents, as stated in your CAS document, are uploaded electronically during the visa application process.

Consent form for students under 18 years of age

Students under the age of 18 who are about to begin their education in England can obtain this document, confirming their parental permission, with the assistance of a notary.

Sponsorship Letter

If the student's education and living expenses are covered by the parents, a petition proving this must be provided, or if the student receives a scholarship from an institution (such as YLSY), a document from the institution proving this must be obtained.
