The University of Reading is a public research university located in Reading, Berkshire, England. It was founded in 1892 as University Extension College, Reading, an extension of Oxford Christchurch College, and renamed University College, Reading in 1902. In 1926, it became a university with the power to award its own degrees by a royal charter from King George V, becoming the only university to receive such a charter between the two World Wars.
